Our blogger interviews are back! I'm so excited to be able to meet and network with these beautiful women of God who pour their hearts and souls out on their blog, and I'm eager for you to meet them too!

Check out today's interview with Dionna Sanchez!

1. What's your favorite book? Who would you recommend it to?

My favorite book is a true story called "Out of Captivity: Surviving 1,967 days in the Columbian Jungle - By Marc Gonsalves, Tom Howe, and Keith Stansell and Gary Brosek. It really gripped me what these men went through.

I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading biographies or true stories.

2. Are you a coffee or tea drinker? Or both?

Neither! I'm a hot-chocolate girl. :)

3. Do you prefer hand writing or typing?

I prefer to type. Hand-writing is fun, but when I'm writing, my hands can fly a bit quicker on the keyboard to keep up with my mind and heart.

4. Whose your favorite music artist at the moment?

Oh, gosh! I have such a wide variety of music tastes. Carrie Underwood is always a favorite... and right now I lean towards music by Sia, Halsey, and Fleurie.

5. Any fun facts about yourself that you'd like to share?

I'm terrible at questions like this. Umm... fun fact.... fun fact... fun fact.... I type on my phone with my fingers instead of my thumbs How about that?

6. What is the meaning behind your blog title?

I originally had another name for my blog and renamed it after my grandpa passed away. It seemed like a lot of my writing and posts came out of hardships or tough moments, and how God is faithful, and you can find purpose and meaning through those times. So, my blog became, "Beauty in the Storm."

7. What's your niche? What type of audience to you wish to attract?

A lot of people struggling to find purpose in their lives. People who want to know they aren't the only ones who question their faith, or have gone through certain feelings and thoughts. I think people can resonate with my posts, because I strive to be authentic and honest in what I write.

8. What inspired you to start blogging? What inspires you now to keep going?

I used to have a newsletter for moms when blogging became big. It was just another way to reach people, and I fell in love with it.

9. Where do you see your blog taking you in the next 5 years?

Honestly, I don't know. I write from my heart and let God do the rest. I used to write posts every other day, and now I post once a week - yet, I'm still going. I've gone from being a mom of young girls, to one facing the empty nest. As long as I have something to write about, I will write!

10. What's your favorite social media platform for promoting your posts and interacting with your readers? Whats so special about it?

Facebook! People have gone from commenting much on blogs, to commenting on facebook. Whether it's a link to my blog, or an excerpt I post, I love to hear feedback from others. As I seek to encourage their hearts, they in turn, encourage mine when they take a moment to share and respond.

11. What's most challenging for you in being a Christian writer?

Not being "preachy." I am just like everyone else. I cry, I mess up, I wish I hadn't said something, (or I HAD). But I'm very passionate about people not walking in mediocrity with their faith. So getting people to be on fire with their walk in Christ, is what I desire, without sounding like I have it all together and they should be like me. Because they shouldn't. But, God has a mission for each one of us, and so many of us aren't fulfilling it do to fear, battles with "image," or whatever.

12.  What changes has God done in you since you began your blogging career?

What changes HASN'T He done? HA HA - God is ALWAYS stretching me! I'd love to live in my comfort zone for awhile! My kids have grown up, we've moved states, I've aged, I've had to face braces for the second time in my life and am facing jaw surgery. Life is always evolving.

13.  Have you ever experienced writers block? If so, how do you overcome it when it happens?

Yes. I find I face writers block more often when my life is really busy. My energy and focus tends to get a little "distracted" and "overwhelmed" so that my thoughts don't pull together as well, or become clear enough to pour into an article. For me, I need to take time to be "quiet." Time without noise. Rest. And listening to some of my heartfelt favorite "pouring out" type songs. Then one article will eventually come. Then another. And another. And I pull myself out of the rut.

14. What are you favorite blogs to keep up with?

I don't keep up as much as I used to. But I still love to peek in on Holley Gerth, Lisa Whittle, Marc and Angel Hack Life, Incourage, and Living Proof Ministries Blog.

15. What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out or thinking of starting a blog?

Write about what moves your heart. If it's sewing, write about sewing. If it's being the mom of an ill child, write about that. That is how you will find your audience and how they will respond and relate to you.
