I'm not a morning person whatsoever. For real! Just ask my husband, lol. I've been trying to change that because I've seen how much my husband enjoys waking up early and getting things done. That and my mornings tend to be pretty chaotic when I wake up at the same time as the girls.

For the last 2-3 weeks, I've been determined to wake up between 5:30-6am to have some time for myself. Truth be told, I'm not always successful, and some days I wake up closer to 6:30 but I have not given up. Waking up before the kids wake up is an awesome start to my day. I get some much needed quiet time, time with God, time to plan my day, and time to drink my coffee before it gets cold (I bet a lot of you momma's are like, ahhh yess!). So today, I'm sharing with you my morning routine and a free morning worksheet called My Morning with God.... I'll get more into details later on about that *wink.

1. First things first. Pray!

You know, for a long time, I completely disregarded praying first thing in the morning; I would leave that for nap time. But once I did it and saw how smooth and unbothered (because sometimes our kids can annoy the heck out of us) my day went, I wanted to keep doing it. Starting your day off with God is life changing - if you want to call it that. When you start your day with talking to Abba, He imparts strength, endurance, patience, and so much more, into you that helps you conquer your day. Your day becomes less chaotic when you pray first thing in the morning. But if I'm totally honest with you, some days I can't muster out the words to come out of my mouth so I looked for a prayer journal online that I absolutely LOVE and I know you will too! With this prayer journal I've been able to write down prayer requests and some thoughts that I want to share with God and it's amazing. I love being able to speak to God in different forms.

2. Read some scripture and journal.

After I finish praying, I grab my Bible (or my phone) and find something to read. For the most part, I use the Bible app on my phone and go through reading plans. When I use the Bible app, I have a journal with me to jot down some thoughts that come to me and scriptures that speak into my spirit. When I don't use the Bible app, I have this devotional book that I bought at the airport in Panama City Beach, FL earlier this year. It has six different sections for you to go through: Getting to Know God Better, Knowing Jesus Better, Growing in Your Faith, Great Women of Scripture, Gratitude, and Forgiveness. Each page provides you a title, the scripture to read, and some reflection questions with space below each one for you to journal. I love it because I can do everything in the same notebook!

3. Grab a cup of coffee.

Once I'm done with prayer and devotional time, I grab myself a cup of coffee with my handy dandy... KEURIG! Gosh I love that machine lol. And after that, I sit down to watch some morning news. Before I started waking up early, I didn't really get a chance to watch the news because by the time I got to sit down for coffee, the news was up. Now I get to see what the weather will be like for the day, find out what's going on in the community and in my city, and relax for a little bit.

4. Work. Work. Work.

Now it's time to get to work. Either I pull out my notebook and laptop and get started on drafting some posts or I get started on housework. It all just depends on what mood I'm in. Sometimes my mind doesn't have the energy to think so I just start tidying up a bit. Other days, honestly, I just sit and watch TV until the girls wake up.


Like I said earlier, each day is different. Sometimes I succeed with this routine, other days, momma just needs to sleep in (that God for being a SAHM, I literally get to choose my schedule).
