The Blessing Bag Ministry

Three years ago, the Lord softened our hearts to the homeless community. We began feeling a strong urge to go out to the streets and provide the most essential items for their survival, and so The Blessing Bag Ministry was founded within our family. Each year, during the holiday season, we go out to Downtown Indianapolis to provide goodie bags that include personal care items, winter essentials, and non-perishables foods.

Last year, in 2019, we collected multiple donations from different states. We are so grateful to those who felt it in their hearts to donate items such as scarves, gloves, hats, socks, toothbrushes, toothpastes, lotions, shampoos and conditioners.

This year, in 2020, we understand that COVID-19 came to shake our world, but it did not and will not shake the plans that the Lord has. We will continue to operate this ministry this holiday season and we hope and pray you tag along. We understand and respect that many may not want to attend the giving of the bags, but we ask that if you feel led to donate, please do.

We would like to share with you a poem written in 2016 by Ronald J Chapman.

In the darkness of the night,
Away from all street lights,
Some drifters walk past,

A cold wind is blowing,
Where are you going?
Please look at me,

Hopeless and desperate,
Hiding in the shadows,
Forgetting who I am.

This, my friend, is the reality of many homeless people. They are losing hope more and more each day, so why not be that beacon of hope in their world? Why not give from what we have been blessed with? Why not show someone that there is hope in a world that currently seems like it is falling apart? Why not love like Jesus loved and continues to love? I don't know about you, but I can't sleep comfortably at night, knowing that there is someone out there that needs me to show them that there is living God who is always watching and always provides.

This year at The Blessing Bag Ministry, we hope to not only be able give our blessing bag essentials, but also serve a Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. If you feel led to donate a monetary gift, we will be taking donations through check, cashapp, or venmo. No cash will be received for proof of donation.

If you wish to donate, please contact Cynthia at canoministries@gmail.com.

"Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full-pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back." Luke 6:38 NLT

If you cannot donate a physical or monetary gift, it's okay. We have a request for you too! Please continue to pray for this ministry. Pray that God may lead us to the right locations, that we may reach the right people, and that always, we may stay humble and give God the glory for everything He is doing and continues to do with our ministries.

Thank you for taking the time out to read a little about out homeless reach ministry.
